  • Community Education Native Plants, Pesticide Use and Other Environmental Impacts -- Discussed March 12 webinar about harms of pesticide use. CAC to create flyer about webinar and ask Paul Feiner to promote it in an email blast.
  • Quarterly topics for community communication -–reviewed list of potential topics by season prepared by Donna on topics such as seasonal decor, tree care, spotted lantern flies and types of salts used to melt ice and which one is best for people/pets/environment.
  • Accessible Viable Living Committee - Terri updated the group. She reported there were changes to the AVL recommendation when it was sent to the Planning Board. The AVL recommendation did not have the 10,000 square foot lot restriction to have an ADU or the 20,000 square foot lot restriction to have a detached ADU. In February, the Planning Board is expected to issue recommendations. Matt stated that the ADU is zone agnostic, lot must have 10,000 square feet and if house has detached garage 20,000 square feet are needed to add an ADU. An ADU can be a maximum of 800 square feet or 1/3 the size of the existing house, whichever size is smaller. Terri suggested a cap on the total number of ADU’s to be determined now, not later, to address the concern that too many ADUs would negatively impact the character of the community. Matt reported that there have been few applications for ADU's so far in Greenburgh, and modest application numbers in Tarrytown, Mt Pleasant and Hastings. Other requirements for an ADU are that the owner must continue to occupy the primary house, lease term of the ADU must be limited to one year, and all units must meet fire and safety codes. The purpose of the program is to create more housing, not just housing for seniors.
  • Plastic Recycling - no discussion

6. NEW BUSINESS
  • Food Scrap Recycling – Alison gave update per conversations with Michelle Sterling from Scarsdale, and Alix Dunn from the Greenburgh Nature Center.
