MOMENT OF SILENCE
Marie M. Roberts, longtime resident, community activist and humanitarian to her family, her many friends and her beloved Greenburgh community, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018. Ms. Roberts was born August 11, 1921 in South Boston, Virginia and in 1926, relocated, along with her family, to the Fairview section of Greenburgh. Marie graduated from White Plains High School and for many years operated Marie’s Sandwich Shop located on Tarrytown Road. It was a community gathering place where you could count on sampling a comforting home cooked meal. Later, she drove for the Bovey’s Bus Company. And, finally, she worked for the Fairview Greenburgh Youth Center – today known as the Theodore D. Young Greenburgh Community Center (TDYCC) – where she focused on senior activities. Marie had a special instinct for the needs and issues of the senior population whether medical, recreational or social. Both within her job and off the job, she advocated for the vulnerable. Marie was always a woman of faith and, as a member of Union Baptist Church, she served on both the Junior and Senior Usher Boards. She was later a founding member of Union Temple Inspirational (Baptist) Church, Inc., First Community Baptist Church in Greenburgh and, finally, a member of Calvary Baptist Church in White Plains. Marie’s service to seniors and to the Greenburgh community during its urban renewal years did not go unnoticed. Her service to the community was an outreach of love from her godchildren, Mr. Theodore D. and Mary Young, founding director of the Fairview/Greenburgh Community Center and his wife. The seniors of the Fairview Greenburgh Community were her heart and passion. Although she acted unselfishly and gave generously of her time and resources, she never did so in search of praise and acknowledgement. Marie touched the hearts of youth of five generations and there was no event that touched the heart of Fairview that Marie did not take part in. She had the pleasure of being recognized by The Senate of the State of New York, Office of the Supervisor and office of the Town Clerk, Town of Greenburgh; Westchester Community Organization Inter-Church Community Organization of America; Newton-Poole-Watkins 40th Family Reunion, just to name a few. Marie was also a major contributor to the narratives of the recently released book, Our Roots Run Deep, a pictorial and historical coffee table book on the African American and African Caribbean communities of Greenburgh.

GOOD NEWS...The Town continues (since 2008) to have the highest possible bond rating from both Standard & Poors (AAA) and Moody's (Aaa). Less than 3% of communities in the nation have top ratings of financial stability. Recently (10/06/2017), Moody's once again reaffirmed the Town's highest rating and on (10/10/17) Standard & Poors reaffirmed the Town's highest rating.

The forms are available on the Town Web site, in the Town Clerk’s Office (until 7:00 PM on the day of the meeting), and on the dais next to the Town Clerk during the meeting. A three minute limit per speaker will be strictly enforced. No interruptions by Town Board members, the Town Clerk or the public will be permitted. Any questions on agenda items should be asked at this time. Department Heads have the option of leaving the meeting following Public Comment. Therefore, if anyone has questions that are related to resolutions/items on the agenda that she/he would like to direct to a specific Department Head, those questions should be raised at this time. |

Madelon O’Shea, Chairperson of the Historic and Landmark Preservation Board (H&LPB), commented on the rehabilitation of the Odell House, the H&LPB and stated that the Board supports the grant application for the Odell House.
Dorrine Livson commented on the July 10, 208 Town Board Work Session regarding the Peddlers policy. She recommended that the town not allow solicitors to know on doors beyond sundown. The also commented on the Greenburgh Shopping Center stating “After an official visit, there is still need for a safety lane.”
Ella Preiser questioned Town Supervisor Feiner regarding “energy savings,” any bills that the Town has incurred fighting the Edgemont incorporation effort, PO-!, Dian Democracy and, with regards to peddler’s, she stated: “I don’t know if commercial speech by a peddler is constitutionally guaranteed.”
