The Greenburgh Town Board appreciates comments from residents at its open meetings.  Recently, comments have been made that, whether intended or not, were hurtful to other members of the public because the comment perpetuated racial or religious tropes and stereotypes.  We believe it is appropriate to remind everyone that bigotry and hate have no place in Greenburgh.  As we move forward we will work together to educate each other around this issue.  Our goal is to maintain a robust and constructive dialogue.  We are confident that this Town can continue to have these dialogues.

MOMENT OF SILENCE

In memory of Harold Shames, who died on December 26, peacefully at his home in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., just shy of his 101st birthday. Harold Shames lived the American dream, the youngest of 5 children in the Bronx, attended City College for free and graduated in 1944 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He earned a Masters degree in Aeronautical Engineering at the Case Institute of Technology (now, Case Western Reserve) and worked at the Cleveland-based National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (eventually merged into NASA).  He was also deeply engaged in his community and served as a trustee in the Village of Ardsley. 

In memory of Alice Joyce "AJ" Simpkins, who was involved in the community, a poet and supporter of the arts

In memory of Milton Donald Mitler (known as Mitty), who was the youngest commissioned officer in the Navy during World War II

In memory of Monica Getz, who founded the National Coalition for Family Justice

In memory of those killed in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion, and in memory of those who have perished due to the terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023

         GOOD NEWS...The Town continues (since 2008) to have the highest possible bond rating from Standard & Poors (AAA) and (since 2010) (Aaa) from Moody's.  Less than 1% of communities in the nation have this record of financial stability.  Most recently, on November 21, 2024, Moody's reaffirmed the Town of Greenburgh earned Moody's highest rating (Aaa) and Standard & Poors also reaffirmed the Town again earned Standard & Poors highest rating (AAA).

Advance signup is required.  A continuous five minute limit per speaker per hearing will be strictly enforced.  The clock will start when a speaker begins speaking and will not be stopped for any reason until the speaker is finished or five minutes has elapsed, whichever occurs first.  Interruptions by Town Board members, the Town Clerk or the public will not be permitted.  If a speaker insists on an immediate answer, should an answer be provided, it shall be part of the speaker's five minute allocation and not be interrupted.  There will be a second five minute round unless the hearing is going to be adjourned to a subsequent hearing date. If the hearing is going to be adjourned to a subsequent hearing date, the Town Board may waive the second round.  Any written comments sent to PublicComment@GreenburghNY.com by 6 PM the day of the hearing will be forwarded to all Town Board members in advance of the meeting for their consideration.  Written comments will not be read at the meeting unless the original author is present to do so.
